Exhibition: Hannah Brown

Hannah Brown

Young Artists Present a Different View
Feb – May 2009
Outpatients Hall, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, West Smithfield

Two new exhibitions, featuring work by emerging London-based artists Hannah Brown and Oona Culley, will open at Barts and The Royal London hospitals respectively on 26th February.

Hannah Brown’s practice references the representation of the English visual and social landscape. In this new series of work at Barts, featuring oil painting, installation and photography, Brown has focused on movement and time within a landscape as portrayed through the use of the Diptych. Working within and against the omnipresent legacy of the English landscape tradition, she searches for places with a peculiar kind of beauty, an essence of the picturesque, the sublime or the uncanny.

Hannah Brown graduated from the MA Sculpture course at the Royal College of Art in 2006. Recent London exhibitions include a solo show at Gimpel Fils in 2007, and group shows Start Your Collection, Contemporary Art Projects, and Suffragette City, The Spare Room, both in 2008. Hannah lives and works in London.
