Exhibition: Rana Begum

Bringing the Outside In

Rana Begum
Oct – Jan 2010/11
St Barts Hospital Gallery

Rana Begum’s contemporary sculptural pieces are comprised of intense colours and geometric patterns found within Islamic art and architecture, as well as in contemporary urban spaces. Repetition and symmetry temper the hard-edged industrial materials Begum uses, as she presents us with a momentary alignment of form, light and colour.

Begum graduated from the Slade School of art in 2002. She has exhibited internationally and completed several commissions. She has also been short listed for numerous awards such as the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the Lemark European Painting Prize.
