Newham Music
We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Newham Music, the award-winning music education hub for the borough, on a growing programme of participatory music projects at Newham Hospital.
This partnership brings together hospital staff, patients, local schoolchildren and professional musicians - connecting our hospital community through shared creativity and celebration.
Windrush Day concerts
Together with Newham Music, we co-produce an annual Windrush Day concert at Newham Hospital, celebrating the contributions of the Windrush generation to the NHS and local community.
Now in its second year, the project includes workshops and rehearsals with a local primary school and the Newham Hospital Staff Choir, culminating in a joyful live performance in the hospital atrium. The concert features music from the Caribbean and personal reflections, bringing staff, patients and visitors together in a vibrant moment of connection and pride.
Music-making in healthcare
Newham Music’s team of professional music leaders work alongside our Vital Arts team to deliver high-quality, participatory sessions for staff and children alike. These projects support wellbeing, confidence and community engagement - core to our belief in the arts as an essential part of compassionate healthcare.
We’re proud to be developing this partnership and look forward to continuing our work with Newham Music to bring uplifting musical experiences to Newham Hospital.
“It was such a moving celebration. Seeing colleagues and children sing together really brought home the sense of pride and togetherness in our community.”
