Charles Avery
Since 2005 Charles Avery has dedicated his practice to the description of an imaginary Island. The capital city, port and gateway to the Island Is called Onomatopoeia.
Central to the life and culture of the city is an institution called The Eternal Dialectic; an endless philosophical debate made up of a multitude of Schools and Salons , each representing their respective beliefs.
The participants advertise and espouse their positions through the posters which one sees posted on any available space throughout Onomatopoeia.
Donated for #100NHSROOMS are six designs for posters for The Eternal Dialectic. The artist said of the project:
“The NHS has been there for my family on several occasions, once critically. Sometimes we don’t appreciate it until we really need it : now we have a real moment where we can show that appreciation, and hopefully go some way to ensuring the integrity of this unique institution is preserved and enhanced.”
