ART AND ENVIRONMENT

We commission artists to work with staff, patients and architects, promoting user and staff involvement in the design of healthcare environments. By involving artists at the earliest stage of building and refurbishment work, we encourage creative solutions to healthcare design.

Forest Canopy is a beautiful screen-printed glass ceiling designed especially for the Recovery Room of the a new Endoscopy Unit by artist Kate Maestri. It was chosen by staff who particularly liked the concept of working under ‘a canopy of leaves’, back-lit to give a dappled sunlight effect and the soothing and calming tones of blue, yellow and green Kate chose for the work.
