Our commission for the new Dental Hospital comes from artist and illustrator Stephen Smith from Neasden Control CentreWe set Stephen the task of creating a space that would appeal to younger children as well as adolescents in a very awkward space, and this is the result.

The installation at the Dental Hospital of the Royal London Hospital features a mixture of large prints together with illustrations around the wards. The aim of the artwork is to create a playful dialogue between the illustrated figures, animals, birds, forests and urban architecture which would appeal to toddlers and teenagers within the same space.

Special care was taken to blend the colour scheme into the already existing colours of the dental furniture, staff uniform and equipment in the ward to create a harmonious balance between the commission artwork and hospital architecture.

We have received some great coverage for this project, please visit our press page to find out more including an interview with the artist in Grafik and Domus.

This commission has been kindly funded by The Abbey Harris Mural Fund
