West Wing: Making art and architecture work for health
West Wing charts the transformation of a near-derelict 18th Century ward block in Barts Hospital into a state-of-the-art Breast Care Centre. As well as incorporating the most up-to-date technical equipment, the West Wing has been designed by Greenhill Jenner Architects for Barts and The London NHS Trust to put the patient at the centre of the healthcare process, and is the result of extended consultation with patient groups and hospital staff.

Funded largely by charitable appeal, the £13 million model project includes site-specific works by artists James Aldridge, David Batchelor, Rowena Dring, Julian Opie, Cornelia Parker, Shahzia Sikander and DJ Simpson, recorded for this publication by photographer Phil Sayer.
